International hockey player from Chhattisgarh Mrinal Choubey has appealed sportspersons to come forward to get vaccinated after he got his first dose of Covid vaccine on Sunday. Vaccination is important for people of all age groups, he said. Choubey said that regular exercise and good diet increases immunity in players, but many players have become vulnerable to corona. Therefore, vaccination is a must for all. He said that 7 players including Rani Rampal, captain of the Indian women’s hockey team, got infected in the month of April.
 
Cricketers in bio-bubble go infected during IPL leading to postponement of the remaining matches, he said. There is also a risk of infection in sports as sportspersons come in direct physical contact with each other during the game, he said. It is to be mentioned, Choubey has been honoured by state government with Gundadhur Samman, Rajeev Pandey Award, Shaheed Kaushal Yadav Award and excellent player award.
