Nag Vidarbha Chamber of Commerce (NVCC) has made a deputation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and other office bearers for the forthcoming GST Council meeting scheduled on May 29, 2021. In the deputation, NVCC has made various demands. They include merge multiple Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates and bring tax rates down. The inflated tax rates are creating trouble for the traders as in the present period of pandemic, the business has impact to a greater extent. It is the need of the hour to abolish or minimize GST rates on healthcare products and services like vaccines, life saving drugs etc.
The plight of the traders and taxpayers should be taken into account by the Government at this juncture. Set up appellate tribunals under GST so that the pending cases would be disposed off at the earliest. Various measures to bring relaxation for honest taxpayers. “We strongly hope that the GST Council would respond positively in this tough time to help taxpayers and economy at the same time,” said a press release jointly issued here by Ashwin Mehadia, President of Nag Vidarbha Chamber of Commerce, Ramawtar Totla, Secretary and CA Ritesh Mehta, Tax Committee Convenor.
