Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested four officials, including Divisional Manager, two Managers, an Assistant, all of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) in a bribery case of Rs 1 lakh. Searches were conducted at six places in Bhopal at the official and residential premises of accused. The arrested accused were produced before the competent court and were remanded to police custody till June 2. During searches, cash of Rs 3.01 crore (approximately); gold jewellery 387 gms (approximately) and 670 gms (approximately) silver articles and jewellery and certain documents were recovered. The said cash amount was allegedly kept in different envelopes, some of the bundles marked with names, dates and amounts etc. Some cash amount was allegedly found in heavy safety vault and chest which was concealed in the wooden almirah.
A note counting machine was also found. Further, a diary was recovered containing the alleged records including cash amounts obtained, date, name, etc. A case was registered on a complaint against Manager (Accounts), Food Corporation of India, Divisional Office, Bhopal, on the allegations of demanding bribe of Rs 1,50,000/- for releasing the pending bills of complainant’s company for January, February and March at Rs 50,000/- per month. It was also alleged that the accused demanded Rs 70,000/- each for the new bills to be submitted. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while demanding & accepting the bribe of Rs 1,00,000/- from the complainant.
The arrested accused will be produced on Sunday before the Special Judge for CBI Cases, Bhopal. The name of accused are: Divisional Manager Harish Hinonia, Manager (Accounts) Arun Shrivastava, Manager (Security) Mohan Parate, Assistant (Grade 1) Kishore Meena. Accused have demanded bribe from a security agency, having headquarters in Gurugram and on non-payment of bribe, company’s payment bill were stopped on one pretext or other and even the payment amount was reduced. It was on Friday night that ACB branch of CBI laid the trap and apprehended all four accused.
