There were fewer people and even lesser vehicles plying on the roads of State Capital as a ‘Janta Curfew’ remained imposed on Sunday. Notably, the curfew has been imposed in the State Capital from Saturday 8 pm to Monday 6 am to break the chain of coronavirus. Collector Avinash Lavania has issued orders regarding this appealing the citizens to not come out of their houses unnecessarily. However, there were some Covid-idiots who could not refrain coming out on roads and unnecessarily increase traffic.
Nevertheless, they were dealt strictly by the Bhopal police. At around 12 noon, a team of police team reached Chetak Bridge and began intensive checking of vehicles. People were asked extensively about the reason for their coming out of houses, those giving satisfactory answers were allowed to go while others were being asked to return home. Similar checking drives were also held at new police control room, Kamla Park, VIP road, Bairagarh, Board Office, Kolar and at other areas to tighten noose on the violators of curfew.
Notably, weekend curfew is now being enforced only on Sundays. On June 8, in the presence of Medical Minister Vishwas Sarang a meeting was held in the control room of Smart City where it was decided to remove Saturday’s curfew. All commercial establishments except medical stores and health services were closed on Sunday.
