As the drain cleaning campaign continues in the State capital, Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner KVS Chaudhary along with other officials inspected several areas in the city on Wednesday. The BMC Commissioner has directed that after cleaning the drains, waste excreta should be lifted immediately and the drainage water should be ensured in an uninterrupted and systematic manner by cleaning all the drains in a better way before the rains. Chaudhary also directed to make necessary arrangements for cleaning Lendia Pond and installing nets to stop waste coming from pond into Mazdoor nagar drain.
Similarly, in Halapur and Sanjay Nagar drains small poclain machines were installed for cleaning and removing garbage to avoid overflow of water during heavy rain. Workers should ensure proper cleaning especially in areas which are prone to waterlogging problem.
He said that these areas must be continuously monitored and situation of water-logging should not arise anywhere. With a view to ensure better cleaning of drains, Commissioner along with Additional Commissioner MP Singh and other officers inspected several areas of the city including Halalpur, Teelajamalpura, Gautam Nagar, Chola, Mazdoor Nagar, Arera Colony, Shahpura, Bhanpur, Shiv Nagar, Patel Nagar, Sonagiri and Ayodhya Nagar. While inspecting the drains located at Bhanpur, Shiv Nagar Phase-1, Phase-2 and Phase-3, Commissioner said that special watch should be kept in water logging areas to avoid overflow of water during heavy rains.
