‘Extensive plantation should be done in schools, Anganwadis’

“TO improve environment and to spread greenery in schools and Anganwadis, an extensive plantation should be done in a meaningful manner,” said Divisional Commissioner Kavindra Kiyawat on Thursday. The Divisional Commissioner was addressing a review meeting of preparations of plantation drive. All the preparations like site selection, selection of plants, suitable size pit, availability of suitable size and variety of plants for plantation and tree guards for 100 per cent survival of plants and regular watering and maintenance before rain, he said. Almost every household has access to schools and Anganwadis. Citizens should be motivated to plant saplings in every household by linking plantation with environmental improvement and increasing the quality of health. Teachers should also motivate all the children to plant saplings in their homes during online class.
 
Along with children, parents should also be explained that children acquire social, natural, cultural knowledge through plants and environment. Plantation at schools and Anganwadi centres Divisional Commissioner Kavindra Kiyawat instructed to plant saplings in all schools and Anganwadis in both urban and rural areas. In all such schools and Anganwadis having boundary walls and gates, plantation of shady and fruit bearing trees should be done in two or three tiers if there is sufficient space. Plants like Drumstick, Mango, Jamun, Amla, Peepal, Banyan should be planted, which will help in increasing the physical immunity of children by providing clean life air along with the temperature and environmental balance of the premises in four to five years.
