BSI demands to replace statue of Dr BR Ambedkar

A delegation of The Buddhist Society of India (BSI) met Mayor and handed over a memorandum demanding replacement of statue of Dr BR Ambedkar located at Ambedkar Chowk. Delegates also met District Collector and demanded lease deed of Dr Ambekar Memorial Hall located at Bhim Nagar. B S Jagrit, the President of The Buddhist Society of India informed that they met Mayor Aijaz Dhebar informed him about the cracks developed in statue of Dr Ambedkar located at Ambedkar Chowk. Delegates demanded installation of new statue of Dr Ambedkar. At the same time they demanded beautification of the square as the tiles placed in the arch are falling due to poor maintenance. It was informed that under Smart City Project grand beautification of Budha talab has been performed and at the playing ground area three feet high statue of Gautam Buddha has been placed. Small children take selfie with statue and keep shoes near the statue which is insult to Buddhist society.
 
 
In the month of December, a delegation of 20 delegated met mayor and informed about the condition. Mayor assured to place the statue at a height of 6 feet high platform beautifully decorated with granite stone. The delegates reminded him of the promise. He further informed that during past 8-10 y ears members of Buddhist Society met Chief Minister, SC/ST Minister and Mayor regarding preparation of Caste certificate but till date no caste certificates were issued. On Tuesday the delegates comprised of Prakash Ramteke, District President, Karuna Vasnik and other members met District Collector and requested to issue lease deed of Dr Baba Sahab Bhim Rao Ambedkar Cultural Hall located at Bhim Nagar which was constructed 40 years back. District Collector assured the delegates that soon documents will be handed over to them. Delegates present were BS Jagrit, Bhojraj Gorkhede, CD Khobragade, Neelkanth Singhade, Prakash Ramteke, Karuna Vasnik, Pramod Vasnik, Suresh Gondane, Hitesh Gayakwad and others.
