Planting sapling mandatory for building permission: Chouhan

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that now building permission will be given on the condition that the person who builds the house will definitely plant a sapling. The condition of planting sapling will be mandatory for building permission, whether it is a municipal corporation, municipality, nagar panchayat i.e. any level of urban body. If there is no space at home, it will be necessary to plant a sapling in a park or public place and protect it. He was addressing the State-wide Ankur plantation campaign on the occasion of World Environment Day on Saturday. Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Kamal Patel was present in the programme that started virtually from CM’s residence. New and Renewable Energy and Environment Minister Hardeep Singh Dang participated in the programme virtually from Mandsaur.
 
CM interacted with the District Nodal Officers of Ankur Abhiyan of 5 districts through Video Conference. In the programme, plantation activities in Harda were presented through the film. Additional Chief Secretary Malay Shrivastava gave information regarding the Ankur programme. CM said that it will be responsibility of Gram Panchayats in the villages also that every house that is built, a tree must be planted in it. This condition will also be applicable to the houses being built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Apart from houses, tree saplings will be planted in schools, panchayat buildings, fields etc. This condition will also be applicable on government buildings and offices. As many tree saplings will have to be planted by builder according to the number of flats built in a multi-storey building. The condition of planting trees will be added in construction of all government, non-government buildings. He said that people will plant trees with self-motivation also because environmental protection is not a slogan but a mantra for us.
