Police have seized cash worth Rs 12,000, five mobile handsets, button operated knives
Raipur Police on Tuesday claimed to have cracked incidents of loots recently reported in separate locations of the city by arresting three looters. The accused identified as Sheikh Shahrukh (23), Mirza Ayyaz Baig (23) and Pankaj Aswani (25), all residents of Raipur, were arrested for allegedly committing loots in areas under jurisdiction of different police stations recently, said Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Lakhan Patle, adding that arrested looters have previous crime records. From the possession of arrested looters, police have seized cash worth Rs 12,000, five mobile handsets, button operated knives and a moped used in the crime, added ASP Patle.
According to police sources, the accused trio allegedly looted a hyve (CG 04 M 7511) driver Gopal Prasad Chouhan, a resident of Mandir Hasaud, at Kamal Vihar’s Sector-12 under Mujgahan police station limits on June 6 and snatched Rs 21,000 cash from him. On the victim’s complaint, Mujgahan police registered an offence under Sections 34, 341 and 394 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and launched a search from them. Similarly, the trio allegedly looted Rs 5,200 and a mobile handset from a driver identified as Vijay Upadhyay (30), a resident of Mahavir Nagar, near Motibagh under Kotwali police station limits on June 6.
