Taide bowls Lancaster to win

 

 

 

YOUNG Vidarbha player Atharva Taide is growing in stature as an all-rounder at a rapid pace. A top order batsman and slow left-arm bowler is helping his side Lancaster Cricket Club score wins in the Northern Premier Cricket League in progress in England. In a low scoring game, the southpaw snared five wickets and then top-scored in the chase to guide his team to a convincing victory over St Annes Cricket Club. In the Division One encounter held at Lune Road Cricket Ground, St Annes won the toss and elected to bat. The decision backfired as the team was shot out for 92 in 37.1 overs. Taide (13.1-6-21-5) was the wrecker-in-chief.

 

He looked impossible to score off and bowled in right areas to pick the rich haul. Skipper Ben Simm (5-3-7-3), who started the proceedings, was equally impressive. During chase, Taide had to arrive at the crease very soon as opener Eddie Steinson fell for one made from five balls. Taide (26, 29b) and Jamie Heywood (19, 34b) steadied the ship. Lancaster made 96-5 in 28.3 overs to pocket 15 points form the game.
