The Nag Vidarbha Chamber of Commerce (NVCC), a leading and apex organisation of more than 13 lakh traders of Vidarbha region, recently took up the matter of delay in getting refund of shipping bills with Mukul Patil Joint Commissioner (Nodal Officer, Custom) CGST, Nagpur. A delegation of the chamber met Patil and highlighted the inconvenience being faced by the region’s exporters.
Leading the delegation, Ashwin Mehadia, President of the chamber, that delay is affecting a large number of exporters.
“It is only after the department re-transmits the shipping bills of the exporters to DGFT, the exporters are eligible for GST refund claim. but in the current scenario, the department is causing delay the re-transmits the shipping bills due to which the exporters have to suffer,” he pointed out asking the nodal officer to expedite the process and give sigh of relief to the affected ones.
CA Ritesh Mehta, Convenor of the chamber’s committee on Indirect Taxes, urged that the GST Department should discuss the matter with the officers in the GGFT and resolve the issue as soon as possible. “Such a step will not only speed up the process but it will also boost exports from the region,” he said. Swapnil Ahirkar, Joint Secretary of the chamber, also said that exporters are facing hardship due to the delay and the exim trade is also bearing the brunt. Expressing his views, Mukul Patil said that he would find out the reasons for the delay in re-transmission of shipping bills after discussing with the concerned officers and arrange for their redressal at the earliest.
