ICAR’s 93rd Foundation Day celebrated with pomp and show

  

The Directorate of Weed Research celebrated 93rd Foundation Day of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) on Friday. Director, Directorate of Weed Research, Dr J S Mishra graced the event as chief guest while all the scientists, officers and employees of the Directorate also attended the programme.

 

Apprising the gathering about various activities and research works being conducted in the Directorate, Director, and Dr Mishra informed that ICAR toils hard to double farmers’ income by 2022. Along with research, the Council also focuses on extension programme to make agriculture a profitable sector for the farmers. Talking in length about farmers’ plights, Dr Mishra appealed to the scientists to maintain balance between technical development and technical extension and promote farmers to work by forming a Co-operative Society. Later, around 250 saplings of different varieties were planted under extensive plantation programme in the Directorate premise following the theme ‘Har Medh par Pedh’ under ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ being celebrated marking 75th Freedom of India. Saplings were planted at the hands of Director Dr Mishra, scientists, officers and employees.
