In an attempt to improve brand value of handloom products, the Maharashtra State Handloom Corporation Ltd, recently unveiled new trademark in the name of ‘Maha Handloom’. The new trademark was unveiled by Maharashtra Textiles, Port, and Fisheries Minister Aslam Shaikhin presence of Principal Secretary Parag Jain; and Textiles Commissioner and Managing Director of Handloom Corporation Sheetal Teli Ugale.
Maharashtra State Handloom Corporation is a Government of Maharashtra undertaking established in the year 1971 by the Government of Maharashtra with a socio-economic objective of helping the handloom weavers of the State to make employment available.
During the recent phase of the pandemic, the corporation took various measures to support the weavers. Under the work from home initiative, the corporation offered raw material to the weavers so that they could earn during the lockdown period. Maharashtra State Handlooms Corporation supplies improved equipment and accessories required to the weavers. it also provide market to the finished products produced by the handloom weavers.
