WOMAN International Master (WIM) Mrudul Dehankar slipped to 22nd position after seven rounds in the ongoing National Senior Women Online Chess Championship 2021.
The championship is being organised by All India Chess Federation.
Mrudul, who won the MCA selection competition a few days back, could not maintain her winning run as she lost two games out of four she played on Friday.
Four more rounds will be played on the last day of the competition on Saturday.
She will have to pull her socks and will have to record wins in all the remaining games to stay in title contention.
The city player, who had recorded three out of three wins on the opening day, started with a loss going down to Woman Grand Master Nandidhaa PV of Tamil Nadu. Playing with black, Mrudul could not defend her pieces. She managed to bounce back in the next round with white pieces and defeated Samriddha Ghosh of West Bengal.
However a lack in concentration saw Mrudul losing second game of the day, again with black.
AG Nimmy of Kerala got the better of Nagpur’s Mrudul.
The 12th seed player ended the day on a positive note. She managed to get the better of Tejasvi M of Tamil Nadu to take her tally to five points from seven boards.
