RAIPUR,

Governor Anusuiya Uikey congratulated former Tripura Governor and newly-appointed Governor of Jharkhand Ramesh Bais for his new responsibility. Bais had paid a courtesy call on Governor Uikey on Tuesday. Congratulating him for his new responsibility, Governor Uikey felicitated him with shawl and shreefal. Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from the capital had represented Raipur Parliamentary Constituency seven times in the Lok Sabha and has been appointed as the new Governor of Jharkhand. On being appointed as the new Governor of Jharkhand, large number of BJP leaders made a beeline to his residence in Raipur for extending their best wishes.

Talking to media persons on Tuesday Bais said that, one good thing about being appointed as the Governor of Jharkhand is that both Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh being neighbouring states have many things in common particularly the socio-economic aspects. Answering a query on whether his appointment as Jharkhand Governor will have any repercussions in Chhattisgarh politics he quipped what will happen in the future, no one can tell. Bais while answering another query on after playing a long political innings, he was first appointed as Tripura Governor and subsequently given charge of being the constitutional head of Jharkhand, he said at first he was in dilemma about difference between political and constitutional responsibilities but now after completing two years’ stint as Tripura Governor, he’s well versed with constitutional responsibilities and will try to do better in Jharkhand. He added that along with the state government will work for the development of Jharkhand and the tribal population there.

His focus will be on implementation of central schemes. Bais who’s on a two day visit to the capital, said the centre had not consulted him before transferring him to Jharkhand, hence he had no information about the development. The programme of taking charge in Jharkhand is yet to be fixed but will do soon. Replying to a query on challenges working in non-BJP ruled state, Bais said he is yet to visit there, he doesn’t know about the circumstances prevailing there, but so far as a Governor’s role is concerned, he thinks there will be no problem as such. He said he will work along with the Chief Minister, he’ll cooperate him and expects his cooperation as well. He said every head of the state wants to work along with the Governor, which would further result in the development of State. During his recent visit to the capital, BJP National Vice President Dr Raman Singh had called on Ramesh Bais a day earlier at his residence. Although Dr Raman Singh while reacting to the questions on the meeting, had stated that it was a courtesy meeting. However political observers see farfetched political ramifications to the meeting.
