Special programme under way at Kalinga University on Monday.

THE Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Kalinga University celebrated World Tribal Day on Monday. Main objective of the programme was to draw attention towards forgetting caste barriers and be a united voice for the rights, culture and history of the Tribal community. The programme commenced by seeking the blessings of Goddess of Wisdom with Saraswati Vandana. Chairman of the varsity Dr Rajeev Kumar, Chancellor Dr Sandeep Arora, Vice-Chancellor Dr R Shridhar, Director General Dr Byju John, Registrar Dr Sandeep Gandhi, Dean Student Welfare Dr Asha Ambhaikar, Dean Academic Affairs Rahul Mishra, Dean Arts and Humanities Dr Shilpi Bhattacharya and Faculty members of the university were present on the occasion.
In his welcome speech, Vice-Chancellor Dr R Shridhar emphasised on the importance of Tribal communities. The marvelous oration shed light on the origin and gradual progress of the various tribal groups in India and around the world. He focused on the present social issues faced by the indigenous people and how citizens can play a role in the growth and improvement of their proud heritage. The event was concluded with Dr Asha Ambhaikar proposing a vote of thanks. Master of ceremony was Anurima Das. Chandan Singh Rajput, Dr Anita Samul, Dr Harsha Patil and all faculty members were also present during the celebration.
