HAVING registered her name four times in the Guinness World Records, Shrishti Dharmendra Sharma bettered her own mark in limbo skating to make it her fifth appearance in the famed book of records. Guinness World Records confirmed the development and in an email stated that the 17-year-old lass has once again rewritten the record in ‘Fastest Time To Limbo Skate Under 10 Bars’. A science student at Centre Point School, Shrishti, who lives in WCL Colony in Umred, made the successful effort during her ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign on February 20, 2021 at skating rink situated in her town.

She had attempted the record in front of a host of invitees and sports lovers. In fact, in her three attempts that day, she bettered the mark on all occasions. The previous Guinness World Record was at 1.720 seconds. Shrishti recorded 1.705 secs, 1.697 secs and 1.694 seconds to the crowd’s delight. All the required evidences were uploaded on Guinness World Records site on April 4, 2021 and the final verdict was declared exactly four months later on August 4. This was her third shot at the record. On the earlier two occasions, she crossed the distance in 1.891 seconds on January 24, 2019 and bettered it to 1.879 on June 12, 2019. But first time, the record was rejected due to some technical reason and the second time the authorities found the video to be not of the approved quality.

Shrishti has now set her sights to break ‘Fastest Time To Limbo Skate Over 50m Under the Bars’. Presently the record is in the name of Chinese We Xue who crossed the distance in 7.974 secs on August 10, 2011 in Beijing. “It will be for the first time that I will be attempting to break a foreigner’s record. It is going to be very interesting and important milestone for me. I am very excited about it,” Shrishti said.
