FROM now onwards, sportspersons and officials visiting city for various tournaments won’t have to stay at far-flung places like Ravi Bhavan or MLA Hostel in Nagpur. The 24-room spacious Youth Hostel constructed at the Divisional Sports Complex, Mankapur will host the sportspersons. The construction of hostel building is almost complete with only furniture and landscaping work remaining. According to information, the building has been constructed inside the proposed budget of Rs 3.70 crores and the unused amount is being used for the interiors and other facilities, without giving extra burden on the State Government.
“The building is almost ready. Only furnitures and landscaping work is remaining. It will be completed in coming days,” newly-appointed Deputy Director of Sports Shekhar Patil told ‘The Hitavada.’ The inauguration date is finalised once Sports Minister gives his nod. The rooms are spacious and can accommodate 3-4 students. Most of the rooms have attached bathrooms. There are also dormitories. The hostel will also have a canteen and a huge community hall. “For visiting officials and VIPs during any major event we will be converting a couple of rooms into suite,” informed Patil. This will help saving travel time by the officials. At present, officials are accommodated at either Ravi Bhavan or MLA hostel which is quite far away from the sports complex.
