City witnesses Organ donation on second consecutive day

New Era Hospital staff created honour corridor and gave free ambulance service 
 
With Vijay Sukhdeve Rangari, a 50-year old man provided new lease of life to three persons and vision to two, Nagpur city has witnessed organ donation on second consecutive day on Tuesday. This time it happened at New Era Hospital, Lakadganj. The family members of Rangari agreed to donate his liver, two kidneys and two corneas. This is 8th deceased donation of this year and 75th deceased donor since 2013. On Monday Dayanand Sahare, a retired teacher had donated the organs. Vijay Sukhdeo Rangari, a resident of Anna Chowk, Ward no 1, Chandakapur, Khaperkheda, admitted at New Era Hospital with intracranial bleed was given to him.
 
He was operated upon. In spite of all the treatment, his condition neurologically deteriorated, and team of doctors declared him brain dead. Family members were counselled by Dr Ashwini Choudhry, and his wife Roshni, and daughter Mohini readily agreed to donate his organs. Brain Dead Committee members at New Era Hospital team of doctors, Neurosurgeon Dr Nilesh Agrawal, Neurophysian Dr Parag Moon, anaesthetist Dr Sahil Bansal, Intensivist Dr Amol Kokas declared him braindead. Rangari leaves behind wife Roshni Rangari, age 46 years, two daughters and a son. His wife Roshni agreed to donate the organs. With the receipt of consent, the role of Zonal Transplant Coordination Committee (ZTCC) has begun. As per the consent of the family members both kidneys, liver and pair of corneas were donated. Liver was donated to a 69-year old man at New Era Hospital. Of the two kidneys one was given to a 31-years old man at New Era Hospital. The recipient of the other kidney gave a life to another fellow- a 51-year old man at Wockhardt Hospital. Pair of corneas were given to Madhav Netra Pedhi.
