INDIA’S second largest co-operative milk brand ‘Nandini’ on Sunday launched its four products at the hands of Devendra Fadnavis, former Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Dayashankar Tiwari, City Mayor. The products include Nandini pasteurized special toned milk, standardised milk, full cream milk and curd. The dignitaries present Balachandra L Jarkiholi, Chairman, Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), Sambhaji S Misale, President Vijayapura Milk Union, Board of Directors of KMF and Vijayapura Milk Union, B. C. Sateesh KCS, Managing Director KMF and other senior officers. “KMF is currently operating in liquid milk segment over the entire state of Karnataka, Goa and other cities of the country including Mumbai, Pune, Solapur, Chennai, Hyderabad, Vijayawada and taking the fleet further now to Vidarbha region including Nagpur, Wardha, Yavatmal, Chandrapur, etc.,” said Jarkiholi. KMF covers 23,600 villages, 14,500 milk co-operative societies, 14 district milk unions, 25 lakh milk producer members with 90.62 lakh litre of milk procurement every day by paying Rs 24 crore to farmers on daily basis. The KMF has more than 140 milk products under its belt. Leader in the country in the sale of Tetra-fino UHT milk and largest curd producing and seller in the country.
“Further, we have built network across the country to market mainline milk products like Ghee, UHT milk (Goodlife). Exporting milk products to USA, Middle East countries and Australia,” he added. From last 4 decades Karnataka has turned from a milk-deficit State into a milk-surplus state, thanks to a strong co-operative dairy movement. KMF is striving to excel on three critical fronts namely business quality, cost and delivery with a theme - quality excellence from cow to consumer. The variants of retail milk launched on Sunday were Nandini special toned milk available in pouches of 200 ml, 500 ml and 1 litre at Rs 10, 23 and 46 respectively. Nandini homogenized standardised milk gives more cups of tea/coffee and available in 450 ml pouch at Rs 23. Nandini full cream milk which is ideal for preparation of sweets and thick curd. Available in 500 ml and 1 litre at Rs 28 and 56 respectively.
Nandini curd is available in 200 gm, 400 gm and 1 kg at Rs 15, 26 and 55, respectively. Congratulating KMF for launching the Nandini brand in Vidarbha, Devendra Fadnavis said, it should open milk collection centres in the region. “There is need to have more milk co-operative societies as it will increase income of farmers,” he said. He lamented that political leaders in the past had promoted their own co-operative societies instead of promoting the State-owned brand - Arya milk. “When our Government came into power under the guidance of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, we tried to do some experiment with the NDDB brand. About 25,000 farmers are getting benefit,” he said. Tiwari said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has carved out a separate ministry.
