Prof Vijaykumar C G, Registrar and Dean, Faculty of Vedavidya, at Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University (KKSU), Ramtek, has been appointed as Vice-Chancellor of Maharshi Panini Sanskrit and Vaidik University, Ujjain (MP). Mangubhai Patel, Governor of Madhya Pradesh, issued the notification in this regard on Thursday. Prof Vijaykumar has been appointed as Vice-Chancellor of the reputed university for a tenure of four years. Prof Shrinivasa Varakhedi, Vice-Chancellor of KKSU, has welcomed the appointment of Prof Vijaykumar. “It is a moment of pride for KKSU.
 
I extend to him the best wishes for his tenure as Vice-Chancellor of Maharshi Panini Sanskrit and Vaidik University,” he added. Prof Vijaykumar C G, who hails from Kerala, has been associated with KKSU for 21 years since its inception. He has contributed immensely in academics, research, administration, and extension services of KKSU and has served in various capacities including Head of the Department, Dean, Chairman of Board of Studies, Member of Senate and Management Councils etc. A widely popular teacher committed to Sanskrit, Prof Vijaykumar is known for implementing different academic activities and shaping Ved-Vyakaran Department.
 
Under the guidance of Prof Vijaykumar, an expert in Grammar, as many as 18 students have completed M.Phil. and six have earned Ph.D. The short film on ‘Panchmahakavya’, a research project, has won acclaim across the country. As Director of University Planning and Development Board, he has been instrumental in increasing the number of colleges affiliated to KKSU to 110. As Director of International Relations Department, he successfully implemented Sanskrit conversation certificate course for foreign students after signing an MoU with the US. His work as Co-ordinator of National Service Scheme has been taken note of at State level. He is Vidarbha unit Secretary of Sanskrit Bharati. He has been honoured with various awards including those of Sanskrit Bharati (US), Gandhar Arts (Doha), and Nair Society (Nagpur), apart from by KKSU.
