Star archer of Madhya Pradesh Muskan Kirar will represent team India at the Senior World Archery Championship scheduled to be held at Yangton in the USA from September 19 to 26. Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare Yashodhara Raje Scindia and Director Sports and Youth Welfare Pawan Jain have congratulated Muskan on her achievement. They also wished her luck to excel in the upcoming championship. Notably, Muskan Kirar has been selected in the Indian archery team on her brilliant performance in the trials held in Sonipat, Haryana from August 2 to 5. She is the only archer from Madhya Pradesh who has been selected for the championship.
The Indian archery team consisting of three men and three women archers includes Abhishek Verma from Delhi, Sangampreet and Rishabh Yadav hailing from Haryana, Muskan Kirar from Madhya Pradesh, Jyoti Surekha of Petroleum Sports Promotion Board and Priya Gurjar from Rajasthan. Kirar is a two-time Asia Cup champion and has been developing acumen in archery since 2016 at the Madhya Pradesh State Archery Academy, Jabalpur.
She has fetched 11 medals for India, including two gold, six silver and three bronze medals. Muskan won a silver medal for India in the compound team event of the 21st Asian Archery Championship held in Bangkok, Thailand, in the year 2019. She also clinched a bronze medal in the compound team event of the World Championships held in Netherlands in 2019. In the same year, in the Asia Cup Stage-I held in Bangkok, Thailand she landed a gold medal in the individual event, a silver medal in team event and a bronze medal in mixed team event. Kirar is undergoing archery training from Chief Instructor and Technical Advisor of the Archery Academy Richpal Singh Salaria.
