THE only category A level International Arbiter in chess from Vidarbha IA Swapnil Bansod brought laurels to the city by becoming the 4th FIDE Lecturer in India adding another feather in his cap. The prestigious title has been approved by the 2nd FIDE Council. Bansod had complied with all the requirements for FIDE Lecturer (an Arbiter Trainer) in FIDE Arbiter Seminars at Guwahati in December 2017, at Manali in March 2018, at Udaipur in September 2019 and at Salem in December 2019. In all these four seminars, he gained enormous experience which ultimately helped him to achieve the title of FIDE Lecturer.
The other FIDE lecturers are — IA FL Dharmendra Kumar of Bihar, Chairman Arbiter Commission AICF; IA FL Prof Anantharam R from Tamil Nadu, Chairman Title Commission AICF and IA FL Gopakumar MS from Delhi. Earlier this year, Bansod was appointed as member of title commission of AICF. He is also a part of AICF Arbiters Refresher Seminars since last three years. Bansod gives credit of his success to his family members and chess fraternity of Nagpur, Maharashtra and the AICF.
