Harini Sreenivasan, Partner of Semcostyle Institute India, while speaking at the webinar on ‘Modernizing People Management’ held recently on virtual platform, highlighted the significance of moving the role of HR from command and control to trust and transparency. She was the keynote speaker of the webinar organised by the HRD Forum of Vidarbha Industries Association (VIA). Sreenivasan also spoke about navigating the organisation in the dynamic VUCA situation and building agile teams that collaborate. VUCA is an acronym which stands for volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity. Expressing her views on stability and volatility, Sreenivasan highlighted the quote of Ricardo Semler which says - “As circumstances change, leadership must change.
A certain set of skills, instincts and personality traits may be perfect today, but may become useless tomorrow.” She also said that after the pandemic, the future of work has become uncertain and thus in the changing environments the management should empower its team members by doing their work autonomous and collaborative. She also elaborated on building an agile culture in the organisation. “Give priority to innovation, build trust and maintain transparency in the organisation. Earlier, Suresh Pandilwar, Co-Chairman of VIA HRD Forum, welcomed the guest speaker and the participants. He also said that the topic was relevant because after the pandemic lots of rapid changes took place in the businesses. “We should adopt the new changes going on globally,” he added. Neelam Bowade, Convener of HRD Forum introduced the speaker while Prof. Ashit Sinha, Mentor – HRD Forum, summed up the session and proposed a formal vote of thanks.
