Munna Yadav convicted for assault on cops

Additional Sessions Judge R S Pavaskar held BJP leader Munna alias Omprakash Yadav guilty for assaulting cops and slapped Rs 10,000/- fine. He was Ex-Chairman of Maharashtra Building and Construction Welfare during Devendra Fadnavis government.
A press release of City police informed that the incident occured on March 19, 2004 when the then Deputy Prime Minister Lalkrishna Adwani was passing through Ajni square with Bharat Uday Yatra. Yadav came to Ajni square with the intent of welcoming the Yatra by bursting crackers. On-duty Head Constable Rajendra Sarode seized the crackers from Yadav, who got angered and again snatched the crackers from the former. Later, Yadav burst crackers and also manhandled the police personnel. An offence under Sections 353 and 188 of Indian Penal Code was registered against Yadav at Dhantoli police station.
After investigating the case, the police had filed a chargesheet in the court. After examining witnesses and recording statements of the complainant, the court held Yadav guilty in the case. He was slapped with Rs 10,000/- fine. He will be sentenced to one month imprisonment in default of payment of the fine. PSI Chate was investigation officer while ASI Vijay Dafre was Pairavi officer. Galurkar was a prosecution lawyer.
