mortal remains of Mahant Narendra Giri were placed in a ‘samadhi’ in the premises of the Baghambari Mutt on Wednesday, amidst chanting of mantras in the presence of scores of saints and seers. The seer was given the ‘Bhoo Samadhi’ under a lemon tree in the Muth, as desired by the deceased saint. Mahant Narendra Giri, who had ended his life, allegedly by suicide on Monday evening, was placed in the ‘samadhi’ in a lying position and not in a sitting position, as is the custom. Earlier, the mortal remains were taken in a procession to Sangam for the last holy bath. A huge crowds turned out along the route to pay last respects to the seer.
 
Meanwhile, a panel of five doctors on Wednesday conducted the post-mortem examination of the Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad president, and submitted the report to officials. The examination lasted for about two-and-a-half-hours and the report was handed over to senior police officials in a sealed cover. The Uttar Pradesh Police had on Tuesday constituted an 18-member SIT to probe the death of the seer and detained a disciple of his in Haridwar while Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that all aspects related to the death are being investigated and the guilty will not be spared. Anand Giri, Adya Tiwari sent to 14 days MCR: ANAND Giri and Adya Tiwari, accused of abetting the suicide of Akhil Bhartiya Akhara Parishad President, Mahant Narendra Giri, were on Wednesday sent to 14 days’ judicial remand. The two were produced in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate on Wednesday.
