The residents of Jabalpur will soon have new experience of enjoying their feast in a unique manner of Rail Coach Restaurant. It is the initiative of West Central Railway (WCR) for optimum utilisation of the scrapped rail coaches and for additional revenue generation. Rail Coach Restaurant project has been started under the head of New Innovative Non Fare Revenue Ideas Scheme (NINFRIS) of WCR. Along with the additional revenue resource the project will also helpful to boost tourism at two rail divisions in the State. Amongst the seven Rail Coach Restaurants under Jabalpur and Bhopal Divisions, five will be established near railway stations of Jabalpur, Madan Mahal, Satna, Rewa and Mudwara (Katni).

 

WCR is targeted to ensure round the clock food services through Rail Coach Restaurants through contract basis. WCR, CPRO, Rahul Jaipuriyar informed that they had floated tenders for inviting private contractors for operation of Rail Coach Restaurants. Contracts will be awarded for 5-years with standard norms of ensuring quality food services to the customers. Railway authorities will randomly check the quality of food and other services. Jaipuriyar added that one of the main concept behind the project is WCR has no need to spend for additional resources for Rail Coach Restaurants as its scrapped coaches will be used at unused railway land at surroundings of railway stations.
