Marking the occasion of World Heart Day, Jabalpur Institute of Nursing Science and Research held a day-long workshop on Wednesday. Cardiologist Dr Pushpraj Patel was the keynote speaker on this occasion while Principal, Prof Dr Sapna Das presided over the workshop. Dr Patel discussed about various causes that lead to cardiac arrest and other disorders causing harmful affects to the cardiac health. He further emphasised over spreading public awareness about heart health. His technical team comprised of Dr Girish Shivhare and Dr Imran gave live demonstration about Basic Life Support System (BLS) to protect the patient’s life at the time of heart attack. Around 250 students practiced the same with the help of dummy. It may be mentioned that the Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI), Asia's largest organization of diabetes professionals dedicated to the care of people living with diabetes has celebrated the World Heart Day on Wednesday fulfilling the pledge to test one million people free for blood sugar at around 10,000 sites across the country.
The drive was conducted with the collaboration with strategic partners including The Art of Living, Rotary India, BeatO, Torrent Pharma. Under the same, various free camps were organized at different parts of the city to provide free sugar testing to the patients. As diabetes is considered as 'Silent Killer' which deadly affects different vital organs in the patient's body. To ensure early diagnosis of diabetes, the free sugar test facilities were provided to the patients across the country on the occasion of World Heart Day. Later Dr Patel was felicitated by presenting a memento for his outstanding contribution in the medical field. Other dignitaries who present include Prof Dr Anoop Tiwari, Princi Shaji, Sangeeta Pillai and other teachers, students and employees of the Institute.
