CLOUDY weather prevailed in Nagpur city throughout Friday. Clubbed with it, spells of rainfall added to the chill in the air. Though the minimum temperature actually rose from 14 degrees Celsius on Thursday to 17.4 degrees Celsius on Friday, Nagpurians found Friday cooler than Thursday. Being the day of ‘Makar Sankranti’, people were in the mood to fly kites.

Though enthusiasts found ways and means, and also appropriate locations to fly the kites, many were deprived of the joy in the morning because of rainfall. Besides, the irregular flow of wind created problems for them. Most importantly, chill in the air outside made many people find comfort in the warmth of their homes. Thanks to the chill in the air, people were seen wearing winter-wear even during daytime, praying for the weather condition to improve and Sunny day on Saturday.

The minimum temperature increased by 3.4 degrees Celsius on Friday as compared to Thursday and was 4 degrees above normal. However, the maximum temperature was 21.2 degrees Celsius, which was 7 degrees below normal. The gap between maximum and minimum temperature was just 3.8 degrees Celsius on Friday. As per the Regional Meteorological Centre, Nagpur, Saturday will see generally cloudy sky with haze. The minimum temperature is expected to be 17 degrees Celsius, and maximum temperature is expected to be 26 degrees Celsius. As far as forecast for next few days is concerned, January 16 (Sunday) will see partly cloudy sky with haze.

Though ‘mainly clear sky’ is the forecast for the period from January 17 to January 20, the minimum temperature is likely to gradually go down to 15 degrees Celsius and below up to 13 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the maximum temperature is forecasted to be 27 degrees Celsius and 28 degrees Celsius. Thus, the gap between maximum and minimum temperatures is likely to widen in days to come.
