TATA Motors Ltd and Aditya Tata Cars launched their first ever CNG cars the Tiago iCNG and Tigor iCNG and also the much-awaited Safari Dark Edition on Janaury 19 at their showroom located at C-6, MIDC, Hingna Link Road (M: 9021109000, 8956413242). The unveiling was done by Ketan Thakre, Secretary of Maharashtra State Youth Congress in the presence of Dr Prakash Jain, Director of Aditya Group. The important benefits of CNG cars are savings in costs and producing less pollution. CNG cars are hybrid that run on both petrol and CNG. The unique safety value additions in Tiago and Tigor iCNG vis-a-vis competition are leak detection feature. In case of CNG leak, the fuel mode automatically switches from NCG to petrol. Micro Switch feature is provided as safety which turns the engine off when the fuel lid is open and engine will not start unless the fuel lid is closed. Tata has used advanced materials such as high quality stainless steel in CNG kit which is leak and rust resistant.
The thermal incident protection features a system in which CNG fuel supply is cut off in case of fire and remaining CNG gas is released in the atmosphere. Both the Tiago and Tigor iCNG can be directly start in CNG mode which is a segment first feature. The Tiago and Tigor iCNG have been built on proven platform for safety. The fuel efficiency is 28 KM per KG. In running costs, CNG cars are cheaper by 30-40 per cent and producing less pollution.
