IN A match full of action, title favourites Young Muslim Football Club (YMFC) got the better of Rahul Club 3-1 in their Super League (Top Four) match of the JSW-NDFA Elite Division League Championship at JSW Football Ground in Kalmeshwar on Wednesday. YMFC’s Hafizur Rahman scored twice and Yash Shukla netted one for the winners while Sagar Chintala of Rahul Club reduced the margin. In an action-packed 27th minute, on a Kamran pass Shukla surged ahead dodging a couple of defenders but was downed in the D and referee had no hesitation in pointing at the dreaded spot. Hafizur converted the penalty kick for a 1-0 lead. Shukla was in the thick of the things once again in the 36th minute of play scoring with a header on a cross provided by Shrikant Getme.
YMFC were breathing it easy at the break with a 2-0 cushion. After the change of ends, Rahul mounted attacks and were rewarded in the 67th minute. Rahul’s Badal Soren was fouled in the D in a fight for the ball with goalkeeper Abdullah and a penalty kick was awarded. Sagar Chintala made no mistake and that brought life in match once again. But the joy was short-lived as Hafizur sealed the fate striking his second four minutes later. In a move that was initiated by Afzal and Ishfaque, Hafizur provided a perfect finish. Soren got two decent opportunities in the game while Blesson Saji had one chance for Rahul that went abegging. YMFC’s Afzaal Akhtar (52nd), Abdullah Ansari (65th) and Shrikant Getme (90+2) and Rahul Club’s Shubham Bongiri (25th) and Vasu Kanojiya (35th) were cautioned.
