The electronic dealers were smiling this Diwali as they witnessed jump in demand which set their cash counters ringing. The consumer durable dealers witnessed strong demand for LED TVs, washing machines, refrigerators and electronic gadgets like mobile phones, laptops, and accessories. This year’s Diwali festive provided a sigh of relief compared to the past two years with muted growth.
“Overall business was great during Diwali. Demand bounced back two days before Dhanteras,” Nihar Taori, Director of Taori Marketing Electronics Mall, Dharampeth while speaking to The Hitavada.
The consumers spending sentiment was positive and attractive offers by finance companies helped to boost the sales this festive season. There was good number of footfalls at the showroom and people saw, felt and understood the products before buying. Apart from LED TVs and refrigerators, there was heavy demand for electronic appliances like washing machines, dish washers, microwave ovens and geysers, he added. The Taori Group as a whole witnessed 30 per cent to 35 per cent growth, while the consumer durable industry saw 20 per cent growth in demand, Nihar added.
The demand for large size LED TVs and high value products were more compared to last year. It was the result of high end consumer spending the targets were achieved. “Overall, we achieved our targets by a good margin. This years demand cannot be compared to the past two years due to fear of COVID-19,” he added.
Gaurav Pahwa, Director of Lotus Electronics said that demand for consumer durable swelled by more than 25 per cent this season. It was already expected that there would be tremendous growth in demand due to favourable economic conditions and finance companies offering attractive schemes. “There was phenomenal growth in credit card usage this season,” he added.
Pravin Rathi of A K Gandhi Marketing said that there was robust demand for electronic products this season. The positive consumer sentiment should continue throughout the year as we expect the wedding season to accelerate demand. “There was good demand for economic as well as high end electronic products. The demand for chimneys, automatic washing machines and large size LED TVs shot up more than expected.
The refrigerator companies are offering their products with 10 year warranty on compressors which is attracting consumers in large numbers. Vedprakash Jaiswal, Director of Vedoms said, that with the market and economic conditions improving there was more than 25 per cent growth in demand for electronic products.
