Come October 30, Kochi (Cochin) will once again find a bright spot in the aerial map of Chhattisgarh. Indigo, one of the country’s largest budget airlines will start a new flight connecting Raipur to Kochi via Mumbai. However, the flight operations will be available for the air flyers for a span of just 30 days viz. October 30 to November 20.

Yet, with the addition of a new sector, it will be 5th flight from Raipur to Mumbai.

According to the information received from Indigo Airlines, flight number 6E-885 will reach Mumbai at 8.45 pm after taking off from Raipur to Mumbai at 6.40 pm. After taking off from Mumbai at 9.30 pm, it will reach Kochi at 11.30 pm. At the same time, flight number 6E211 will reach Mumbai at 7.30 am after leaving Kochi at 5.15 am. After leaving from there at 8.10 am, it will reach Raipur at 10 am.

Meanwhile, sources in Airports Authority of India (AAI) also hinted that plans are afoot to commence more flights connecting the State Capital-Raipur with Goa, Jaipur and Ranchi sectors. A proposal in this regard has already been sent to Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and their approval is awaited with baited breath since the aforesaid destinations are much in demand by flyers from Chhattisgarh.

Knowledgeable sources at Swami Vivekananda Airport (SVA) averred that preparations have already kick-started to commence the operations of new flights from winters soon after DGCA gives its go-green signal. “As on date, 40 flights are operated daily from SVA to connect Raipur with all key destinations across the country wherein over 5500 passengers commute daily. At present, flights are running from Raipur to Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Prayagraj, Jagdalpur, Indore, Bhopal, Pune, Indore, Jagdalpur, Bhubaneswar and Kolkata respectively,” the sources added. AAI officials underlined that, with the start of the new flight, passengers will get convenience and more options to pick from as it will be easy for them to choose the flight as per their time of convenience.
