In a major jolt, around 80,000 pensioners of power companies have not received September month’s pension.
According to the information, due to non-receipt of subsidy amount from the Government, the pensioners of the transmission company of the Energy Department have to cope up without pension this month.
A copy of a letter of Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Limited received by ‘The Hitavada’, says that Rs 392 crore was demanded from the Government to give pension to the pensioners of the transmission company. However, only Rs 35 crore was given by the Government. Due to scarcity of funds for this purpose, the company is
helpless to release the amount, despite it being the festive season. ‘The Hitavada’ when contacted Ganesh Mishra, MD of Madhya Pradesh Power Distribution Company, he said “to pay pension is a matter of Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Limited.. they can explain better.”Various employees and pensioner unions termed the decision appalling to live without pension. They have warned of agitation. B D Gautam, General Secretary of MP Vidyut Karmchari Sangh Federation INTUC, talking to ‘The Hitavada’, said that it is very pathetic as thousands of pensioners are not getting pension even after passing five days.
Transmission company is saying that they have not received the fund but it is not our fault. Why should we suffer? It is their liability which has to be fulfilled in any circumstances.
If our demand for timely payment of pension has not been addressed we will come on streets. He said that payment of pension has been reported at a few places that also raises questions about mismanagement.
