As research in energy field advances and infusion of new technology is increasing rapidly challenges too are increasing for the workforce. To provide them an insight into the same a workshop is organised on November 25. Vijay Singhal, Managing Director, MSEDCL, is going to address front ranking leaders of various employees union. Employees from all the three companies, Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (MSPGCL), Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL) and Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL). The programme is at Maa Ganga Celebration Hall and Lawn, Kharbi T-point, at 11.30 am, and is organised by Vidyut Kshetra Tantrik Kamgar Union.
Though the three State run companies currently enjoy undisputed leadership in production, transmission and distribution business, the emerging scenario however is full of challenges. As economy makes rapid strides, infusion of funds are needed on massive scale for reduction of losses and ensuring 100 per cent realisation of power sales.
About 1500 workmen and women from all over State are going to attend the one day workshop. Ravi Barai, Central President, Vidyut Kshetra Tantrik Kamgar Union, will preside. Sanjay Taksande, Director (Operations), MSEDCL, Sanjay Marudkar, Director (Operations), MahaGenco, Anil Kolap, Director (Operations), MSETCL, and Suhas Rangari, Regional Director, MSEDCL, Nagpur Region, would be guests of honour, said a release issued by Manish Daramb, media co-ordinator for the programme.
Employees themselves have taken lead in organising the workshop as the monopoly of state run companies in power sector is under cloud. Massive changes are in offing in the power sector as private players are increasingly posing competition and in such scenario employees union are fearing that if they are granted unified licenses to produce, transmit and distribute power the state role could get diminish. The employees are looking for answer amid confusing scenes at state and national level.
Amidst the global scene where newer advances are in offing in power sector, Singhal would provide the road map on employees as to how they can improve the performances. The thrust is now on every individual employees to give his or her best as production cost of MSPGCL is a major worry. Plus the transmission losses needs to be cut down to realistic level to provide level playing field to companies as power rates at now at premium and any further rise could complicate scenario. Plus the distribution entity also needs to improve its performance to minimise faults and use of latest machinery to deliver faster results to consumers. On the occasion Singhal will also release Technical Diary 2023.
