As many as 18 nominations were cancelled by Returning Officer Sumit Agrawal after thorough scrutiny of nominations for the upcoming Bhanupratappur legislative assembly by-poll.
A total of 39 candidates filed their nominations for the Bhanupratappur by-poll. Scrutiny of nominations was done at Kanker Collectorate on Friday. During the scrutiny, 18 nominations were cancelled and 21 nominations were found to be valid.
The candidates, whose nominations have been found valid, are Brahmanand Netam (BJP), Savitri Mandavi (Indian National Congress), Ghanshyam Jurri (Gondwana Gantatra Party), Diamond Netam (Rashtriya Jansahba Party), Shivlal Pudo (Ambedkarite Party of India), Akbar Korram, Arjun Singh, Ayunaram Dhruw, Gautam Kunjam, Jeevan Ram Thakur, Dinesh Kumar Kallo, Duryodhan Darro, Devprasad Jurri, Nagesh Kumar Mahla, Pramesh Kumar Tekam, Balram Teta, Mahattam Kumar Dugga, Revatiraman Gota, Rohit Kumar Netam, Laxmikant Gawde and Sevalal Chiram. Besides, nominations of 16 independent candidates have been also found valid for the by-poll. There is a direct fight between Congress candidate Savitri Mandavi and Brahmanand Netam in the by-poll.
Moreover, there are 3490 young voters, whose ages are between 18 and 19 years, while 548 service voters including 19 females and 529 male service voters have been recorded for whom Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS) will be issued for the service voters. There are a total of 243 polling stations including 15 in urban areas and 228 in rural areas in Bhanupratappur assembly constituency, in which there are 10 hyper sensitive polling stations,
47 sensitive polling stations, 24 political sensitive and 175 general polling stations. Candidates can withdraw their names till November 21. Voting for Bhanupratappur by polls will be held on December 5 while counting will take place on December 8. Around 1,95,678 voters, including 1, 01,491 females, 95,186 male voters, 1 third gender and 855 identified persons with disabilities from Bhanupratappur assembly constituency will exercise their franchise.
