State-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs) on Tuesday cut the price of commercial category LPG cylinder by Rs 115.50 bringing it down from Rs 2015 to Rs 1899.50 per unit. The price cut in the 19 kg commercial category LPG cylinder will give some relief to the consumers like hotel and restaurant owners, caterers, small eatery owners etc. who are struggling to minimise their expenses.
Though these prices have been diluting for the past three to four months, the current level is still haunting the consumers who had paid Rs 2619 for the same in the month of May.
The OMCs had reduced the prices of the commercial LPG cylinders in the month of September when the prices were cut by Rs 92 per cylinder.
“The prices are still very high for people like us. The oil marketing companies should further cut the prices and make it affordable for us,” said a tea seller based in Gandhibagh.
He also said that the consumption of LPG goes up in the winter season which eventually pushes up their expenditure. “I need seven to eight cylinders every month and thus its cost matters too much for me,” he added, requesting not to disclose his name.
In the meanwhile, the oil marketing companies did not change the price tag of the 14.2 kg domestic category liquid petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders. Its price continues to remain steady at Rs 1104.50 per unit for the past few months.
The oil marketing companies revised the prices every month. Normally, they make the changes at the beginning of the month. But there are instances when price revision was made in the middle of the month.
