Pedalling to promote Indian Art & Culture, Dr Seth reaches city

Padma Shree Dr Kiran Seth, Professor-Emeritus at IIT- Delhi and founder of Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC-MACAY), is on a cycle expedition from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. During the journey, he aims to bring people closer and promoting glorious heritage of India. On way to Kanyakumari, Dr Seth, on Friday, reached Nagpur on bicycle from Madhya Pradesh. He had started his expedition from Srinagar on August 15. He is determined to pedal the entire length of the country from Kashmir to Kanyakumari to lend impetus to the movement to support Indian art and craft, which he started back in 1977. “SPIC MACAY is bringing people closer together using our glorious heritage as the medium. To achieve this objective, many committed volunteers are required. This trip will create an awareness of the goals of the movement and will also hopefully attract many new volunteers,” said Dr Seth at a press conference held at Press Club in Civil Lines, on Saturday.
 
Dr Seth also shared how individuals can be a part of his tour and reflected upon his journey with SPIC-MACAY of spreading awareness about different aspects of Indian heritage through music, art and inspiring the youth to imbibe the values embedded in it. During his bicycle journey, Dr Seth interacting students, teachers and principals to spread his message. In Nagpur, on Sunday, SPIC-MACAY, Nagpur chapter will felicitate Dr Seth at VNIT. He will also address students during the programme. Before this, he will address Maharashtra Volunteer Meet of SPIC-MACAY. A meeting with principals and directors of schools and colleges will also takes place. Dr Seth will leave Nagpur on November 21 and he will head towards other cities of Vidarbha and then enter to Telangana. He will conclude the bicycle journey on January 30, 2023 in Kanyakumari. The press conference was attended by Rinku Chakraborty, Dr Kasturi Panmode, Dr Sucheta Kulkarni, Sabyasachi and mother executive members of SPIC-MACAY.
