KAMPTEE United stormed into the final of the Shahid Bhagat Singh Memorial Inter-District Hockey Tournament organised by Vidarbha Hockey Players Association (VHPA). In the semi-final, Kamptee United defeated Yavatmal 3-2 in regulation time. In the fourth quarter-final, Anjani Club beat Gadchiroli via shoot-out after both the teams played out a 2-2 draw in the regulation time. Kamptee will meet the winners of Anjani Club and Gondia in the summit clash at Vidarbha Hockey Association ground on Sunday at 2 pm. The semis clash between Anjani and Gondia will be played on Sunday morning (8 am). In the first semi-final, Kamptee United raced to a two-goal lead in the first quarter itself with both the goals coming from the stick of Abhishek Gajbhiye in 5th and 9th minute.
 
Yavatmal pulled one back in the third quarter with a goal from Pritam Maske (22nd). Kamptee stretched the lead again in the 28th minute through Akash Kanojiya. Yavatmal came back in the game with Prathamesh Thokal (33rd) scoring his team’s second goal. But Kamptee held their post well to enter final. Earlier, Gadchiroli scored through Shivam Dhone (10th) and Gaurav Shende (46) while Anjani’s goals were scored by Gaurav Raut as the match ended in a draw. In the shoot-out, Raut, Sachin Gawande, Bablu Neware and Atharv Kamble scored for Anjani while for Gadchiroli, Gaurav Shende and Nikhil Donadkar scored the goals.
