Seminar held on ‘Fisheries Business Opportunities in Vidarbha’
Highlighting that there are considerable number of lakes, rivers, private ponds, dams and reservoirs in Vidarbha, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Saturday said that a policy should be decided to provide employment opportunities to the youth by using these resources to its full capacity. He was speaking at the ‘Agricultural Conference’ organised on the topic ‘Fisheries Business Opportunities in Vidarbha’ at the 13th Agrovision National Agricultural Exhibition. MP Dr Sunil Mendhe; Dr Ashish Paturkar, Vice-Chancellor of MAFSU, Atul Patne, Secretary, Department of Fisheries; Dr Mayee, Consultant; Ravindra Boratkar, Organising Secretary; and others were present on the occasion. Further, Nitin Gadkari said that the youth of Vidarbha will get employment and income if the three-way confluence of fish producers, cooperatives and Government schemes is achieved in East Vidarbha.
Dr Patne said that 33 per cent of the total fish production in the State is achieved from Nagpur division alone. If caging system, ornamental fish, aquarium etc., are arranged in this place, income and tourism opportunities will increase, he said. Sunil Mendhe said that it would be more preferable if the Government policy is implemented immediately regarding fisheries. Dr Ashish Paturka also shared his views. Earlier, Dr Mayee gave the introductory remark while Ravindra Boratkar proposed the formal vote of thanks.
