Two youths killed in mishap on Saoner road

 

 

Two bike-borne persons, including a teenager, were crushed to death by a rashly-driven 10-wheeler trailer at Kodegaon village on Khapa-Saoner road on Tuesday.

The deceased have been identified as Lokesh Dhanraj Gharat (21), a resident of Naik Layout, Saoner and Aditya Satyapal Kanojia (17), a resident of near Satwa Mata Temple, Saoner.

According to police, the accident occurred when Lokesh and Aditya were heading towards Khapa from Saoner on a motorcycle (MH-40/AJ-8045) at 3.30 pm. The 10-wheeled trailer came from opposite direction. Lokesh lost control over the wheels and applied brakes. As a result, the two-wheeler slipped on the road and the two came under the trailer’s wheels. Both sustained injuries in the mishap. They were rushed to the hospital by passers-by where doctors declared them dead. A police official said that Lokesh was living at his maternal uncle’s place in Saoner. The road is narrow at the accident spot due to undergoing construction work, he said.

An offence under provisions of Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicle Act was registered by Khapa police. Under the guidance of PI Ajay Mankar, PSI Vijay Barai, HC Sanjay Wankhede and Santosh Parteki are investigating the case.
