OJAS Gedam of SMBA and VBAN’s Nishika Gokhe emerged champions in the Transform Nagpur District Badminton Tournament (U-15 & U-17) that concluded at DNC Badminton Hall, Congress Nagar on Sunday. While Ojas got the better of Sparsh Kawale of AM 21-7, 21-14 in the U-17 boys singles, Nishika beat Ridheema Sarpate 21-16, 21-19 to second spot in the girls singles. Nishika grabbed her second crown winning the girls doubles with Ridheema Sarpate. In the U-15 boys singles, Rigved Nimkar pipped Sriram Rao of PJP 21-16, 21-16 to the second place and ADBA’s Fizza Akbani pushed Mrunal Potdar of SELF 21-6, 21-8 to the runner-up place. Nagpur district team will be selected from this tournament to represent Nagpur district at Yonex Sunrise Maharashtra Sub-Junior Under-17 Inter-District team championship 2022, Nashik from November 12 at Rachana Trust Sports and Cultural Academy, Nashik. NDBA President Kundatai Vijaykar, former international badminton player Vijay Kashikar, Transform India’s Abhishek Kumar and Prabal Pathak were present as guests for prize distribution . Anant Apte, Madhavi Hedaoo, chief referee Aditya Galande, umpires Nishad Chore, Sarthak Googal, Sanket Mundhe, Harsh Wattyani, Kaustubh Dhupe, Sarang Rotekar, Amin Khan, Aditya Derkar were was also present on the occasion.
