Ahead of Winter Session of State Legislature in second capital of Maharashtra, the cabinet sub-committee of State cabinet on industries announced a bouquet of development projects for the Vidarbha region, including investment of Rs 20,000 crore in Naxal-hit Gadchiroli district. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde chaired a meeting at Mumbai on Tuesday wherein Industries Department tabled proposal worth Rs 70,000 crore and same were approved that would be located in various parts of the State.
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was also present at the meeting along with Industries Minister Uday Samant, Abdul Sattar, Agriculture Minister, and Sanjay Rathod, Food and Drugs Department Minister. They were part of the cabinet sub-committee that examined the industries proposal that aims to create employment for 55,000 persons.
Among the proposals that got nod from State Cabinet include Rs 35,220 crore investment in Gadchiroli district and adjacent Chandrapur district, both in Eastern Vidarbha Region. With starting of iron ore mining in Surjagad, the State Government then under Chief Ministership of Uddhav Thackeray had announced setting-up steel plant in the area. That time current Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was Guardian Minister of Gadchrioli district.
The new government with Dy. CM Fadnavis effectively steering the decision making, three investment proposals for Gadchiroli were sanctioned by the State Government. This includes two projects of Lloyd Metal and Energy Limited for Rs. 5,700 crores and Rs 14,000 crores respectively. The third project is going to be set-up by M/s Varad Ferro Alloys with investment of Rs 1,520 crore.
The three projects can bring about change in the dynamics of Gadchiroli where the Left Wing Extremism had thwarted development potential. Now that the police have nearly wiped out the naxal threat, the State is channelising the investment to turn around the future of adivasi dominated area.
A release of State Government said that aim and vision is overall development of the Maharashtra and hence all these projects are spread over all the regions like Marathwada, Vidarbha, North Maharashtra and Western Maharashtra. Overall it is a balanced approach to ensure all round development in all corners of the State, tweeted Dy. CM Fadnavis later in the evening.
For the Chandrapur, the sanctioned project include investment of M/s New Era Clean Tech with potential of Rs. 20,000 crore and same would come-up at Bhadravati. Similarly, M/s Indo Rama Synthetic India Pvt Ltd. is keen on expanding its existing manufacturing facility and projected investment is around Rs 1925 crore and same is going to be located in Butibori Industrial Estate. The State cabinet also approved project of M/s Grace Ventures wroth Rs 600 crore for Amravati district.
