NMC’s Indora UPHC bagsstate-level Kayakalp Award

The makeover of Urban Primary Health Center (PHC) by Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is getting recognised as the one at Indora bagged the 2021-22 ‘Kayakalp Award’. The award carries cash prize of Rs. two lakh as it is adjudged as the Best in State and same is instituted by Health Department of Maharashtra Government.
The Urban Primary Health Centre at Futala is the first runner-up and that in Shende Nagar is the second runner-up, and these centers will get a prize of Rs 1.50 lakh and Rs one lakh respectively. Also, 18 other Urban Primary Health Centers (UPHCs) of NMC that of Jaitala, Telankhedi, Sudam Nagari, Mehndibagh, Babulkheda, Nandanvan, Zingabai Takli, Bhaldarpura, KT Nagar, Jagnath Budhwari, Bidipeth, Panchpaoli, Kapilnagar, Pardi, Mominpura, Hazaripahad, Hudkeshwar, Narsala, Dipty Signal have got incentive awards of Rs. 50,000 each.
Government hospitals, primary health centers and urban primary health centers in all districts and municipalities of the State are participating under the ‘Kayakalp Yojana’. A team from the municipal level Health Department conducts the final inspection. The UPHCs were evaluated and scored on health center hygiene, outpatient department, patient seating arrangement, drinking water arrangement, institution maintenance, biological waste management, infection management etc.
UPHC at Indora is the first in NMC and it secured 95 per cent marks. The UPHC at Futala and Shende Nagar have secured 94 and 85 per cent marks respectively and are the first and second runners-up respectively in the municipal corporation area. Radhakrishna B, Municipal Commissioner and Administrator, received the award. Additional Municipal Commissioner Ram Joshi congratulated the staff of all UPHC. Dr Narendra Bahirwar, Medical Health Officer, Addl. Medical Health Officer Dr Vijay Joshi and Mother and Child Care Officer Dr Sarla Lad guided the Health Department team during the survey. City Program Manager Dr Ashwini Nikam, City Accounts Manager Nilesh Babre and City Quality Assurance Co-ordinator Dr Rajesh Bure co-ordinated and guided the organisations during the contest stage.
