Addressing the gathering at the IT Track held during the 9th Annual Global Nagpur Summit (GNS) 2022 at Chitnavis Centre on Sunday, Sameer Bendre, Chief of Operations, Persistent Systems, said that the city has achieved significant growth in IT sector in recent years. He was chief guest on the occasion.
Dr Rizwan Ahmed (CTO, delaPlex) Presided over the session while Prashant Mishra, Chief Executive Officer and Founder at Click2Cloud Inc., USA, was the keynote speaker. Shashank Rao, Co-founder of Nagpur First was also seated on the dais. Bendre further said, “Arrival of some multinational companies in Nagpur has created good job opportunities for IT professionals. It has also developed good eco-system for the sector. But I believe that the current scenario does not complement the availability of trained IT professionals in the region and entrepreneurial qualities among the people.”
Bendre further urged the IT professionals to be a job creator and not a job seekers. “Nagpur has always been a city of entrepreneurs. But limited avenues were available for the people here. Now, the conditions are far different and there are immense scope for the entrepreneurs, especially in the IT sector,” he said.
Mishra spoke on “Future of Healthcare and Cloud Computing in India” and highlighted the technological development in the field of healthcare. He said that the technological advancement would transform the healthcare sector in coming days.
In his opening remark, Dr Rizwan said the event is an attempt to explore opportunities for establishing Nagpur as a global hub for IT services, product engineering and AI/ML/DS.
Comparing the growth of IT sector in Nagpur with other cities in the country, Shashank Rao said Pune, Bengaluru and Hydrabad are far ahead. Aprat from this, he said the Nagpur First is planning to host a global investment conclave in the city. “The conclave will offer funding options to the entrepreneurs,” he said. Dinesh Jain, Founder of Nagpur First, also joined the session virtually and expressed his views.
Nidhi Bawashe, Manager-COE, delaPlex, conducted the proceedings of the session and proposed formal vote of thanks. The track also witnessed panel discussions, workshop and startup showcase.
The panel discussion on “Emerging technologies and its impact on IT services and product companies” was moderated by Rupal Shirpurkar, Business Head (Cloud BU–APAC) at Click2Cloud Inc., with panelists Dr Bhimaraya Metri, Director IIM Nagpur; Dr Abhay Kimmatkar, MD, Ceinsys Tech Ltd; Vishnu Tambi, CEO, Excellon Software and Dhananjay Kumar Das, Centre Head, Nagpur and Group Manager, IP Strategy & Solutions at Sagacious.
