Nagpur District Football Association’s team clinched the Western India Football Association (WIFA) organised Senior Inter-District Championship which was played at Balewadi, Pune. In the final, Nagpur defeated hosts Pune 4-2 on penalties after both the teams were locked at 1-1 at the end of regyulation time.
This was second game in running when Nagpur won on penalties. In the semi-finals, Nagpur defeated Mumbai 5-3 on penalties. It was once again captain Owais Khan who saved crucial spot kicks to help Nagpur win the coveted title.
Nagpur took the lead two mintues into the second half through Sufiyan Sheikh (47th) but an own goal in the dying minutes of play took the match into tie-breaker. Mohd Shabab (82nd) deflected the ball into Nagpur net while attempting to clear it.
In the tie-breaker, Stanley Peter, Sagar Chintala, Sufiyaan Sheikh and Nirmal Munda scored for Nagpur.
Sufiyaan Sheikh was declared best player of the Tournament while Owais Khan was named best goalkeeper.
Best half was Javed Akhtar while Stanley Peter was named man of the final.

Nasir Jamal was the coach while Abid Khan was manager of the team.
