Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the work of major projects to be constructed for irrigation in the State should be of top quality and should be completed within the stipulated time. Chief Minister Chouhan recommended the approval of six major irrigation projects of the Water Resources Department. With the completion of these projects, irrigation capacity will be increased in 38,470 hectare area. The estimated cost of completion of the projects is Rs 748.57 crore. Chief Minister was presiding over the 117th meeting of the Major Project Control Board in Mantralaya the other day. Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silavat, Finance Minister Jagdish Deora, Farmers, Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Kamal Patel, Minister of State for Narmada Valley Development Bharat Singh Kushwaha, Additional Chief Secretary S N Mishra and officers of the concerned department were present.
Harbakhedi Barrage Medium Project: The Harbakhedi Barrage Medium Project proposed on Kshipra river in Mahidpur tehsil of Ujjain district was approved. This project is based on micro irrigation method. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 104.28 crore. The work of construction of 10.76 MCM barrage and pressurised pipe canal is included in the project. With the completion of the project, Rabi crops will be irrigated in 3,050 hectare area in Mahidpur tehsil. Pangri Medium Micro Irrigation Project: Approval was given to the Pangri Medium Micro Irrigation Project proposed on Badi Utavali river in Khaknar tehsil of Burhanpur district. The estimated cost of this project is Rs 112.50 crore. With the completion of the project, irrigation facility will be available in 4400 hectare area in 10 villages of Khaknar tehsil of Burhanpur district.
Lamta Pressurised Pipe Irrigation Network Project: Sanction was given to the proposed Lamta Pressurised Pipe Irrigation Network project in Parasbada development block of Balaghat district. In the project, kharif (paddy) crops can be irrigated on 9,630 hectares of land in 55 villages by constructing a pump house in the upstream of the damaged portion built about 100 years ago. The cost of the project is Rs 137.26 crore.
Jaira Medium Micro Lift Irrigation Project: Approval was given to Jaira medium micro lift irrigation project of Sagar district. Its estimated cost is Rs 102.52 crore. With this, irrigation facility will be available in 5400 hectare. In this, the work of dam construction, pressurised pipe irrigation system will be done.
Samakota Barrage Irrigation Project: Approval was given to Samakota Barrage Irrigation Project of Ujjain district. Its estimated cost is Rs 141.11 crore. With this, irrigation will be possible in about 6,000 hectare. Under this, barrage construction, pressurised pipe irrigation system development works are included.
Tem Medium Irrigation Project: Approval was also given to Tem Medium Irrigation Project of Vidisha district. In this project, the construction work of dam has been started. The project includes construction of dam and pressurised pipe canal. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 151.28 crore. With the project, irrigation facility will be available in 9,990 hectare area of 47 villages of Berasia tehsil of Bhopal district and Maqsudangarh tehsil of Guna district.
