CM unveils Hockey World Cup trophy

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel welcomed the trophy of FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup-2023 at Chief Minister’s House in State Capital on Saturday.
The Chief Minister unveiled the trophy in presence of Sports Minister Umesh Patel and Parliamentary Secretary Vikas Upadhyay at the Chief Minister’s House.
The trophy tour of the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup-2023 has reached Raipur on Saturday from Karnataka on its last destination. During this, the CM also honoured international players of Chhattisgarh for their valuable contributions in hockey.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Baghel said that he welcome the trophy on behalf of 2.75 crore people of Chhattisgarh. With this prestigious event to be held in Odisha, the people of Chhattisgarh are as happy as the people of Odisha. Baghel said that during the last four years, the infrastructure for all sports has been continuously strengthened in Chhattisgarh. Chhattisgarh Government has established 21 sports academies in four years. Today, Chhattisgarh has world class grounds and facilities for hockey players. He said that Chhattisgarhiya Olympics are also being organised to increase the enthusiasm of people towards sports so that sports talents get maximum opportunities.
The trophy was handed over to Chhattisgarh Hockey Association President Firoz Ansari in a grand ceremony at Field Marshal K M Cariappa Stadium, Bengaluru in Karnataka on December 23. After Raipur, this trophy will be sent to Bhubaneswar, the venue of the World Cup, on Sunday. The coveted trophy travelled across 13 states and one union territory. The FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup-2023 will be held at Bhubaneswar and Rourkela from January 13 to 29.
