COVID-19: Admin to conduct mock drills at all hospitals in district

As a precautionary measure in the wake of threat of new variant of the novel coronavirus, Nagpur district administration will be conducting mock drills at all hospitals, Government and private both.
District Collector Dr Vipin Itankar, in a review meeting, urged citizens to use masks. “As a precautionary measure, one should take precautions for prevention of COVID-19 with self-discipline and wear a mask,” appealed Dr Itankar.
Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Saumya Sharma, District Superintendent of Police (Rural) Vishal Anand, Resident Deputy Collector Vijaya Bankar, Dean of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Dr Raj Gajbhiye, Dean of Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) Dr Sanjay Bijwe, Director and Chief Executive Officer of AIIMS Dr Vibha Dutta, District Surgeon N B Rathod, District Health Officer Dr Deepak Selokar, District Disaster Management Officer Ankush Gawande, Ravindra Sarnaik of the Task Force, and others also were present at the meeting.
According to the directives of the Union Health Ministry, a mock drill will be conducted on December 27 at all hospitals to review the preparedness regarding handling possible rise in coronavirus cases in the district.
A review regarding the preparedness will be conducted during the mock drill. Availability of beds at a hospital, availability of necessary medicines, COVID-19 coronavirus screening, availability of ambulance, oxygen, ventilators, telemedicine services, availability of manpower etc. will be reviewed during the drill. COVID-19 test of passengers coming from other countries has been started at Nagpur’s Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport.
“People should be tested if the symptoms of cold, fever, cough are found. Everyone above 18 years of age should be vaccinated. Especially citizens above 60 years of age should get vaccinated on priority. Vaccination is the only way to protect against COVID-19. Do not believe any rumors regarding coronavirus being circulated on social media. People should not get panic and instructions, information and directions related to corona will be given from time to time through the district administration. Follow the COVID rules while celebrating Christmas and New Year events,” stated Dr Itankar.
