IN YET another hit-n-run incident, a recklessly-driven truck claimed the life of a young woman and seriously injured her husband and child about 200 metres from Gavsi Manapur Forest check-post on Wardha Road in Hingna Police Station area Wednesday afternoon. The trucker fled the spot fearing arrest.
Identified as Monica Snehal Barahate (22), the deceased was a resident of Pimpalgaon, taluka Hinganghat, district Wardha. Her husband Snehal Rashtrapal Barahate (30) and eight-month-old child, who suffered serious injuries, were rushed to the Government Medical College & Hospital.
Snehal Barahate, Monica and their child were going towards Pimpalgaon on a motorcycle (MH-40/BB-3361) around 3 pm. A speeding truck (RJ-11/8635) hit them from behind killing Monica on the spot and injuring her husband and child seriously. The truck driver fled the spot.
After recording the statement of injured Snehal, husband of the deceased, Hingna Police registered a case under Sections 304(A), 279, 337, 338 of the Indian Penal Code, read with Sections 184, 134 and 177 of the Motor vehicle Act, against the errant trucker.
